Akshay Kumar, who is on a super run lately has come up with a scientific thriller ‘Joker’ this week. This movie which also stars Sonakshi opposite Akshay for the second time has been in the making from quite a long time. Shirish Khunder directs Joker after a six year long gap. His last film ‘Janeman’ also with Akshay failed to click at the box office. Joker, whose release date was postponed many times has finally released today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :

Akshay Kumar(Agasthya) is a scientist in America, who works on a special project surrounding Aliens. One fine day he gets a call from his village that his father is very sick and wishes to see him immediately. Agasthya comes back to India along with his girl friend Diva (Sonakshi Sinha). Once home, he finds from his father that his village Paglapur, has been dropped off the map of India. To put his village back on the world’s radar, Agasthya sets off on a unique mission along with his crazy villagers. What is his mission? Whether he succeeds in his mission? and what are the difficulties he faces in the course of his mission? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

The only plus point of the movie is the art direction department. All the sets and the village shown in the movie is beautifully designed. This is kind of movie where one has to think hard to find any plus points. Chirtangadha Singh’s item song brings some relief in the movie. First half of the movie is just but OK and that too in bits and pieces. Akshay Kumar’s sidekicks bring some laughs.

Minus Points :

Nothing seems to be going right in this film. Shirish Khunder has once again gone wrong this film time too. I wonder how Akshay Kumar not only agreed to do this film, but also produce it. The film itself is a big minus point and has absolutely nothing to offer. Though the movie is promoted as a alien movie, they are shown only in the end and that too in a ridiculous manner.

The roles of Sonakshi Sinha, Shreya Talpade and Minishha Lamba have been completely wasted, as they have nothing to do. The film’s plot, execution and every scene is so bad that the viewers are made big jokers while watching this film. Starting to end I was just wondering when this movie would end. At least Shirish Khunder’s previous film ‘Janeman’ had style, songs and Salman Khan, but Joker is one film which will put you off track, and make you think twice before you watch a movie again.

Technical Aspects:

Only good thing about the movie is the technical aspects of the film. Art direction is really good and shows the crazy village in a unique manner. Music by G V Prakash is decent and so are the lyrics. As Shirish specializes in technical aspects of film making, he made sure ‘Joker’ would visually look good. But on a serious note, he should stick to his editing and technical departments, rather than making silly and over the top movies like Joker. His just fails to engage the audience whatsoever right from the very beginning of the movie.

Verdict :

On the whole, Joker is one movie which totally puts you off. Bad scenes, over the top comedy and some ridiculous dialogues, Joker tests the viewers patience to the core. This movie has absolutely nothing to offer and is a nightmare for the viewers. Please stay away form this one, even when it comes on TV.
