Bollywood3.com Rating : 1.25/5

Starring: Karisma Kapoor, Rajneesh Duggal

The film ‘Dangerous Ishq’ has been billed as glamour queen Karishma Kapoor’s comeback vehicle and she has teamed up with successful storyteller Vikram Bhatt for this movie. The film has been produced on Reliance Entertainments Banner and Himesh Reshmayya has scored the music. ‘Dangerous Ishq’ has released in both 2D as well as 3D versions. Let us see how the movie is.

Story :

The concept of re-incarnation is central to the movie. Sanjana (Kareena Kapoor) is a very rich and successful supermodel who enjoys a good life along with her husband Rohan (Rajneesh Duggal). In course of time, Sanjana starts getting strange premonitions and she struggles to trace the root cause of them all. Her worst fears turn out to be true when Rohan is kidnapped and a huge ransom is demanded.

As Sanjana goes about solving this problem, she discovers that her premonitions and dreams actually have a meaning and significance. The discovery takes on emotional journeys into the past, sometimes into past lives. What happens when Sanjana discovers the secrets of her previous lives? Will she be able to save her husband Rohan? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

Feels nice to see Karishma Kapoor back on the big screen. She is a beautiful actress and has the ability to perform.Sadly, that is about the only positive aspect of the movie. The plot outline is interesting and some amount of suspense is sustained in the first half.

Minus Points:

What could have been a good entertainer is let down by poor screenplay and direction. Many prominent actors have minor roles in the film and they do not get a chance to make an impact – Case in point being Gracy Singh and Jimmy Shergill.

There are major flaws in the second half of the film and logic goes for a toss in the proceedings. Pace drops considerably. The climax is foolish and not too convincing. But it definitely comes as a slight shock to some. Subjects like this require slick storytelling and care should have been taken in that aspect.

There are many other flaws in the movie that are best avoided in the interests of time and space.

Technical Aspects :

The movie has been shot in both 2D and 3D formats. I have not seen the movie in 3D so I cannot comment on the film’s 3D effects. Editing is ok and background music is decent. Cinematography is alright.

Vikram Bhatt fails to show his usual brilliance as a director of such subjects.

Verdict :

Dangerous Ishq is a sad film that has nothing going for it except Karishma Kapoor. She looks good and does her part well, but she still needs to be supported by a strong script and an engaging screenplay to make the whole thing work. Dangerous Ishq is not for the casual movie lover. Watch it only if you are a hardcore Karishma fan.
