Taking the current trend of remaking south films Akshay Kumar has come up with his high voltage action entertainer ‘Rowdy Rathore’. We have huge expectations from the album as this movie is Akshay Kumar’s first mass entertainer. The music has been given by Sajid-Wajid and has lyrics by Sameer. Let us see how the audio album is.
Song 1: CHINTA TA TA
Singers: Mka Singh
Lyrics: Sameer Anjaan
Analysis:Though this is a copy from the original film, this number is an out and out mass number. Mikha who has specialized in singing these peppy numbers has once again done a wonderful job. The catchy phrase just hovers onto your mind as soon as you listen to it. This number with funky beats is a sure shot hit and it takes no time to grow on you. With Akshay Kumar’s energetic steps and Prabhu Deva’s innovative choreography this song will be a treat to watch.
Song 2: Aa re Pritam Pyare
Singers: Mamta Sharma
Lyrics: Sameer Anjaan
Analysis: Promoted as the ‘Rowdiest song of the year’ this track is sung by ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ fame Mamta Sharma. This song is surely the ‘massiest’ song of the album. The song is on the same lines as Munni Badnaam and Sheila Ki Jawaani, though the lyrics are much bolder here. This song has a foot tapping appeal and will heavily entertain the front benches. The song’s beats are very catchy and the listeners will love the song more, once they watch its video.
Song3: CHEL CHABELI
Singers: Kumar Sanu, Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics: Faiz Anwar
Analysis: This is a romantic love song sung by Shreya and Kumar Sanu. From the beats to the vocals, this track brings back the romance of 90s. Sanu comes in the later part of the song. A decent duet which grows on you only after listening to it three or four times.
Song 4: Dhadang Dhang
Singers: Wajid, Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics: Faiz Anwar
Analysis: This song immediately reminds us the old masala songs and it’s completely for people in the front benches. The highlight of the song are the Dandiya beats which comes as the background rhythm, and completely dominate the song. Composer Wajid has done a decent job for this song. Shreya Ghosal is only the soothing voice in this song.
Song 5: Chandaniyan
Singers: Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics: Sameer Anjaan
Analysis: Chandaniya is like a sleeping lullaby, which is done full justice by Shreya Ghoshal’s lovely voice. It is the lone soothing number in this album. The Composers have given a very silent feel to this song by using very less musical instruments. This is a kind of song you skip whenever you are listening to it in your car or at home.
Song 6: Tera Ishq Bada Teekha
Singers: Shreya Ghosal & Javed Ali
Lyrics: Sameer Anjaan
Analysis: This romantic number is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Javed Ali. The song continues where the ‘CHEL CHABELI’ song left off and carries the same mood. Lyrics are the only saving factor in the song as they hold some meaning to them. However this romantic track fails to impress and could have been omitted.
Song 7: Rowdy Mix:
Singers: Akshay Kumar & Sarosh Sami
Lyrics: Shiraj Ahmed & Sajid
Analysis: Last track in the album “Rowdy Mix” is a dialog mix by Akshay and Sarosh sami The song opens with Akshay Kumar mouthing his famous one liners from the movie in a very Salman Khan way. This track will be a DJ favorite, and will mostly played in the clubs because of high voltage beats. This song is specially created to elevate the marketing promos of the movie and for display in music channels.
Verdict: ‘Rowdy Rathore’ despite the good songs, leaves a sense of dissatisfaction. Having composed hit music in the past, Sajid-Wajid definitely could have done a better job. The composers purposely have given the 90′s feel to the music of the film, with a mix of romantic and peppy numbers. ‘CHINTA TA TA’ and ‘Aa re Pritam Pyare’ songs are going to be instant hits. Rowdy Rathore is an interesting album if you wanna listen to mass and peppy numbers. Apart form first two songs, rest of the songs will only grow on you, once you watch the film. On the whole Rowdy Rathore is just an average time pass album.
