Director : Nikhil Advani

Producer : UTV Motion Pictures

Music Director : Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Starring : Kangana Ranaut, Imran Khan

After last week’s disaster Hero, Nikhil Advani is back with a romantic comedy in the form of Katti Batti. The movie stars a fresh pairing of Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut. While Imran makes a comeback with this one after his short sabbatical, a lot is expected from Kangana after her last outing, Queen. Let’s see how the film turns out to be.

Maddy (Imran Khan) is extremely disturbed after going through a break up with his college sweetheart and live-in girlfriend Payal (Kangana Ranaut). Inspite of all his close friends trying to convince him to forget Payal, Maddy is too much in love to do that.

Amidst this, Maddy hears the news of Payal’s marriage to her ex boyfriend and he soon catches a flight to Delhi to express his feelings.
Is Payal too in love with Maddy yet and why did she break up with him? That forms the rest of the story…

Plus Points:

The only one thing that Imran Khan is good at is rom-coms and he tries to put his heart and soul in it. In this too, his effort is shown and the movie can prove to be a welcoming comeback for Imran. The fresh pair of Imran and Kangana looks made for each other and sets the screen on fire.

Kangana is a pretty sorted actress. She knows her timing well and showcases some amazing performances in all her films. Her awesome display of emotions in the climax is worth watching. Also the one thing that keeps everyone going throughout the film is the lead pair’s adorable chemistry.

Minus Points:

Apart from the chemistry and the performances, everything in the movie falls flat in the face. After his last week’s disaster Hero, Nikhil’s film making in Katti Batti too is extremely average.

From a few Hindi romantic comedies like his own Kal Ho Na Ho, Saathiya to Hollywood rom com like Sweet November, Nikhil direction seeks close resemblance to these popular films at various points. We wonder what happened to tweaking. First it was Hero that Nikhil had picked up as it is from the cult Hero and now this.

Even though the lead pair showcases good performances, their characters are just so poorly written. The sad part here is the movie which purely revolves around Imran and Kangana is hardly in the picture. It seems that the makers have only used Kangana’s name to attract her huge fan following.

Technical aspects:

The first half is a little bearable and the second makes absolutely no sense with only regular flashbacks. The dialogues are fine as the lines which were supposed to be funny did not manage to evoke many laughs. Except for Sarfira, no other songs are good. Editing is fine and cinematography is good. However, the script and the direction are the two things that we are disappointed with, the two things that the movie stands on.

On the whole, Katti Batti is tedious and a bore fest which goes now where. We would recommend you to give this film a shot only if you want to see Imran and Kangana’s rocking chemistry. Rating : 2/5
