ABCD 2 is the sequel to Any Body Can Dance (ABCD), which released in 2013. The trailers and the promotional activities have caught up well and expectations are quite high on the film. Directed and Choreographed by Remo D’ Souza, this movie which features Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

The movie is all about a dance group which travels from the suburbs of Mumbai to Las Vegas to win the World Hip-Hop title. Suresh ( Varun) is an young and aspiring dancer, who along with Vinnie (Shraddha Kapoor) and few others form a dance group called Mumbai Stunners.

In the first step towards their dream of winning the title, the group face an embarrassment and get rejected to take further part in a competition in India. Then, they come across a dance master Vishnu ( Prabhu Deva), who trains them hard to reach their goal.

But Vishnu has a personal motive, who tries to fulfil his own desire with the help of this dance group. What is his personal goal ? Will his dance group win the title on the global stage ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

Choreography is the heart and soul for this movie. Right from the start till the end, the movie is filled with stunning dance moves. The energy levels of all the performers in the dance group are quite impressive.

Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor did a commendable job in their roles and perform with great vigour and enthusiasm through out the film. Shraddha Kapoor’s glamour gives an added advantage to this movie.

Prabhu Deva with his eye-popping dance moves in a couple of scenes gives a good boost to the film. His emotional track in the second half is also good.

Apart from the noted star cast, the entire team in the dance group should be credited for their performances. Also, the funny antics played by the group will brings in laughs for the audience. They ensured that the film is not short of entertaining elements.

Minus Points :

The plot of the movie is a big minus. The storyline is quite regular and apart from the superb dance moves, none of the scenes will evoke much interest for the audience.

There is no great deal of chemistry between the lead pair. Although the occasional romantic track is showcased in the interim of the dance rehearsals, the lead pair’s relationship is not so convincing.

Few scenes in the second half are dragged to some extent. Also, the length of the movie acts as a dampener. The run time of 154 minutes seems to be a tad long given the current trend of Bollywood movies.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is top notch as the audience are treated to a wide range of the beautiful locales in Las Vegas. The scintillating skyscrapers and other locations are captured brilliantly and these shots will leave the audience mesmerized.

Music and the background score are decent and the foot-tapping tunes in the climax will have good impact to the viewers. Few emotional dialogues in the second half are also scripted well.

The direction by Remo is ok and the screen play is carried out well. The production values are nice and the makers have not compromised on any technical aspect.

Verdict :

On the whole, ABCD 2 is a delight for all the dance lovers. The biggest strength of the movie lies in the eye-popping dance moves performed by the cast. Despite a regular storyline, the movie will enthral audience due to its never before seen dance sequences. If the length of the movie and a few dragged scenes can be avoided, ABCD 2 is definitely worth a watch.
