The multi-talented Himesh Reshammiya, is back with his next venture as an actor in the name of Teraa Surroor. Directed by Shawn Arranha, the film also stars Farah Kareemaee and Naserrudin Shah in lead roles. Let’s see what it has in store for us.
Raghu (Himesh Reshammiya) is a gangster who is madly and deeply in love with Tara (Farah). Tara, however is unaware about Raghu’s profession and the two are going to get married soon.
It is after Raghu cheats on her a heartbroken Tara leaves for Dublin for a performance. The twist in the tale comes when Tara is caught with drugs in her bags at the airport.
Raghu reaches Dublin and in spite of trying hard, Raghu fails to help her and she is sent to prison for seven years. Who has trapped Tara ? and how does Raghu save her ladylove ? That forms the rest of the story.
Himesh Reshammiya has worked very hard on his physique, which is quite vivid from his shirtless scenes. He looks dapper and his acting prowess too has improved quite a bit.
Farah Karimaee is beautiful and adds that x factor to the movie. Naseeruddin Shah is amazing and Kabir Bedi too manages to leave a mark. Shekhar Kapur is impressive of all.
While Himesh may have improved to an extent, but he still needs to work really hard on his acting. The actor is no good when it comes to changing expressions especially in the emotional parts.
He becomes unintentionally funny at times. Farah on the other had is nothing more than a pretty display in the movie. She is no where close to being called an actress.
The story of the film is quite unique and even though, seen before, it is made with a different take. The film’s screenplay by Namrata Ramsay is taut, engaging and so up to the mark.
A few scenes in the movie will manage to keep you on the edge of your seat. The action sequences are outstanding and so are the songs. Dialogues are fine. Cinematography by Maneesh Chandra Bhatt is amazing and his camera captures the scenic beauty of Dublin beautifully. Editing is good.
The direction by Shawn Arranha is good and his film-making sense is fantastic which is quite seen in the way he helms the climax scenes with ease. The screenplay is filled with twists and turns, some being engaging, while some being utterly unnecessary.
On a whole, Teraa Surroor is a decent thriller which will hook you for most of the run time. Himesh’s fans will love it even more because of his new avatar and good songs.
