Bajirao Mastani to be banned in Pakistan?

Looks like the most awaited epic period film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’, has run into trouble in Pakistan. The Central Board of Film Certification of Pakistan denied to clear the film with a no objection certificate. Mobasher Hasan, the chairman of the Pakistan’s CBFC, stated, “Bajirao Mastani is indirectly against Islam and Muslims, since it explores the relationship between Bajirao Peshwa and his Muslim wife Mastani.”

The CBFC Chairman also denied the reports that the film was banned because of certain offensive dialogues and intimate scenes. Incidentally, the Pakistan CBFC cleared Bajirao Mastani’s rival, Dilwale, for a theatrical release. Meanwhile, the film has been facing several court cases and demands of a ban even in India.

Starring Ranveer Singh as Bajirao Peshwa, Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, Bajirao Mastani showcases the life of Maratha warrior king Bajirao Peshwa.
